We Are Back + Exciting Announcement

the mommy blog

Hello Readers,

Hope you all are doing super well. 🙂

A lot has happened since I blogged last. And I can’t wait to share some exciting news with you all.

As you may have already noticed there wasn’t much happening here on the blog for two reasons. 1) I wanted to give myself a good break from blogging because of Ramadan, so I could give my one hundred percent to my family. 2) I have been thinking for quite a few months about starting my own YouTube Channel, The Mommy Blog TV, so I spent a good amount of time researching and figuring out things on my own.  I wanted to share with you a few videos of things I have loved, had questions about, some fun things going on with my family and so much more.

And one month fast forward, I have uploaded four videos on my channel, made loads to mistakes, learnt from them. And I will keep continuing it. So I would love for you all to go check it out and subscribe to my channel if you want to see more videos.

And as of The Mommy Blog, have no fear, it’s my first love and will remain the same forever. So be sure to check back every now and then because I have loads of exciting things lined up. So until next time. Take care 🙂

Four Photos | March 2015

This series Four Photos reminds me of taking more and more pictures every month. And I’m sure I will cherish all these moments for years to come.

^^ The Big Thing absolutely loves coloring and I took this photograph days after we moved here to Doha. Back then we hadn’t stepped out to shop for books yet, so mama had to draw her an owl.

^^ I recently joined a group for bakers on Facebook, that’s where I drew my inspiration from, for making these super yummy chocolate chip cookies. I will be posting the recipe soon, of course if I find enough time.

^^ And if you thought that’s our kids’ new chalkboard then you may want to think again. We got a brand new center-table for our living room. And the next day, this happened! *sigh*

^^ No! No one gifted me these. I found them on sale at the grocery store and just couldn’t resist. Oh! I got only three of these because I’m on a diet!! Hehe! 😉

I strongly suggests all of you to try and capture little moments in life, so you can look back to see how much fun you have had while snapping them. So go get your cameras and start making some memories!!

Preparing for the Baby ~ Quick Tips

Ouch! A thud on my abdomen woke me from my deep sleep in the middle of the night. With my half open eyes, I glanced towards the table clock and it read 3:00. I noticed a cute little baby on my lap with his tiny palm clasping my night dress.

Gosh! One kick took me back 6 months reminding me of his kicks and punches inside the tummy while I was pregnant. Oh my god! I was a mother and just few months back, I was carrying my little one not knowing how he would look, how he would crave for me, how he would giggle.

After the First five months of giddiness and puking, here I was busy shopping for my soon-to-be-born baby. Trust me, I was enjoying every second of it. But, because I didn’t know the gender of the baby, everything I was buying was of neutral shade or unisex be it rompers or a bedding set.

TIP: If you don’t know whether you are having a boy or a girl, the safest colours are white, and any colour other than blue, pink or black. But, trust me and am sure you all would agree with me, babies look cute nevertheless.

Wondering if it is a Baby Boy or girl?

With the new arrival on the way, I got the freedom to go on a shopping spree. At one instance, my hubby thought I would buy the entire Liverpool city center for I would return home after spending 6-8 hours roaming around. But my hubby did appreciate my smart buying. I would visit city centre searching for sale in good stores. This way we got some really good dresses of good quality at a bargain.

TIP: Plan in advance and look for bargains on dresses and especially nappies. Babies use nappies at the speed of light. They drink, poo, drink, wee, drink poo and the cycle goes on. Hence, stocking nappies is never a bad idea.

Also, buy very few dresses for the age group of 0-3 months because babies grow like hulk. Blink of an eye and the first few dresses would fail to fit. Try to go for 3-9 months, if you ask me.

Next on the list was getting the hospital bag ready. Finally my hubby started understanding the fact that you cannot do things at the last minute. Hence, 2 months before delivery, we started to pack our bags. With our little one busy punching me like a punching bag, I thought he was eager to pop out as quickly as possible. He was so wildly active inside the tummy, that if few minutes passed by without any movement, we would get worried and go to the hospital to get things checked.

TIP: We used the NHS site to get the list of items to pack and it proved to be really handy.

So now we were done preparing for the hospital, after delivery care and future. But, the most important preparation was yet to be done.

Yes, preparing for delivering my little one. I was scared to death. How am I going to deliver a 3 pound baby out of my tiny body. Will it be painful? Should I go for a normal delivery or a C-section. I spent hours and hours Googling and it would confuse me more than lessening my apprehension.

Hence, I resorted to watching videos of couples who had shared their experience of delivering a baby normally. Finally, I decided to go for a normal delivery.

But, despite our well laid plans, I ended up having multiple tears and stuck to bed for 2 months.

But, now when I look at my dear son, I ask myself; was it worth it? Well, hell YES!

I was a mother to a little boy for whom I hope I’ll always be the First Valentine.

Her happiness is relaxing in her beanbag and watching Finding Nemo.

Her happiness is reaching out to that remote and changing the television mode.

Her happiness is finding beautiful new books and crayons everyday.

Her happiness is eating up pages from all those books.

Her happiness is enjoying her little chocolate treats every evening.

Her happiness is wanting her little share from every chocolate her sister eats.

Her happiness is leaving for school cheerfully.

Her happiness is having all the toys to herself, while the big sissy is not home.

Her happiness is watching those lively birds fly so high, up in the sky.

Her happiness is looking at her happy sister have a whale of time.

Her happiness is sleeping peacefully in her cot, snuggling her favourite toys.

Her happiness is hitting her sissy in her face, to wake her up.

Her happiness is jumping around and going crazy-pant over every other thing.

Her happiness is blabbing in equal excitement at her super-happy sister.

Her happiness is cuddling and teasing daddy and momma.

Her happiness is peacefully staring at  momma, with a twinkle in her eyes.

Her happiness is paddling in the sea with the daddy and going somewhere new with the momma.

Their happiness is getting up to sky together already and making each other laugh from their tummies. Their happiness is going on outings together, and simply being together on a day trip or a beautiful short walk.

My happiness is changed now.

Now happiness to me is in reading the same board books to my girls, that I have been reading for the whole of the last week.

Now happiness to me is going on a family outing, where the girls can play and I can sit and watch them enjoy their time together.

Happiness to me is getting up early and working all the stuff, so we can all have a simple and happy day ahead.

Happiness is doing carts and carts of shopping when there are sales, so I don’t need to spend extra bucks rest of the time( to make my baby happy, of course.)

Happiness is to give them both their bedtime bath, tuck them in their beds and have a couple of peaceful hours to myself.

Happiness is in playing peek-a-boo with the baby, like a hundred times a day and still not going ninja.

Happiness is watching them both snuggle and kiss each other. Today, all the happiness I have in my life, revolves around these two little humans. They both inspire me to find happiness in very little thing I have in my life. They always encourage me to look for all the God’s endlessly bounties and blessings on us. They give me a reason to remain a sane and content mama, that I am.

And I know my children will always be a reason for my happiness! My children will make sure of it.haajra
